As part of Unity Day we explored and celebrated different families and the children made posters to show their own. We then read Maya Angelou’s poem ‘Human Family’ and children then wrote their own stanza based on this.
We loved participating in Unity Day in Y3 today. The children enjoyed discussing diversity and all created a drawing that showcased what makes them unique.
Year 3 had a fantastic visit to Tropical World this week! We explored and discovered a range of plants and animals from the tropical rainforest and understood the importance of tropical rainforests on our planet.
Pankhurst class have had a wonderful day to celebrate World Book Day. A huge well done to all children for their efforts to create a truly magical classroom!

Y3 have been participating in ‘The Big Legal Lesson’ today. They have explored the importance of laws and rules. They have discovered how laws affect their daily lives.

Yesterday, we explored different types of leaves and we discussed and classified a group of leaves according to their characteristics (e.g., colour, texture, size and shape). We also observed features which all leaves have to help a plant survive. @morley_newlands
NSCD PE. Children have been bringing their rainforest topic to life through their PE lessons with Northern school of dance. Children enjoyed making the layers of the rainforest through movement and direction this week! @morley_newlands
@morley_newlands This week year 3 have been measuring! They have learnt how to accurately measure length to the nearest cm and mm. The children particularly loved this practical lesson of measuring items in the classroom. Well done year 3!
Children at MNA have been out litter picking in the community this afternoon. Earlier this year, our School Councillors wrote to @CllrRobFinnigan who kindly donated some litter pickers for us to use.
Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic Rainforest afternoon! They learnt about lots of animals that live in the rainforest, how important the rainforest is to our planet, and made their own animal masks to take home.
