We mourn the loss of Chicago Police Officer Samuel Jimenez, a father of three who had joined the Chicago Police Department last year and recently finished his probationary period.

He died in the Line of Duty seeking to protect those he was sworn to serve.

Twenty-four years ago, August, 26 1994, Officer Ron Ryan, Jr. and Canine Officer Tim Jones and his canine partner Laser gave their lives in the Line of Duty. Their heroic sacrifice saved and protected countless other men and women of law enforcement and our community that day.

On Friday, we had the opportunity to lead the opening ceremonies for the Special Olympics Minnesota at the University of St. Thomas. It was a great evening welcoming all the athletes for the weekend events!
