During the Bharat RE Summit & Expo 2026 Ahmedabad Roadshow, Shri Ashwani Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (EPD), Government of Gujarat, reflected on the courage and foresight that shaped Gujarat’s renewable energy journey. He recalled how the decision to invest in the Charanka Solar Park, at a time when solar power cost ₹15–16 per unit, was a bold leap of faith—backed by the vision of the then Chief Minister and today’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

What began as a bold bet in Charanka has since grown into a defining chapter in India’s renewable energy story, demonstrating what early vision and decisive action can make possible.

As government and industry come together to build on this momentum, India’s path towards a stronger, more sustainable energy future continues to take shape.

When Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave the International Solar Alliance (ISA) the vision of enabling 1,000 GW of solar energy in 2015, it seemed extraordinarily ambitious. Today, the world has crossed 3,000 GW of installed solar capacity — a powerful testament to the scale of that vision.

Over the past decade, ISA has grown to 129 Member Countries, emerging as the Global South’s leading multilateral institution headquartered in India, taking India’s solar experience, innovation and solutions to the world.

And Gujarat stands at the heart of this journey. A leader in renewable energy and solar rooftop adoption, the state reflects the scale of what India has achieved and the possibilities that lie ahead. The next chapter is about taking this success to the world.

For industry, the opportunities are clear: scaling Indian manufacturing for global markets, developing competitive solar and storage solutions, and building innovative local-currency financing models that can accelerate solar deployment across emerging markets.

The world is looking to India, not only for technology and manufacturing, but for solutions that can make the energy transition faster, more affordable and more accessible.

Today, Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE, chaired the meeting for the release of the report on “Scaling up Floating Solar Photovoltaic Systems” by the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy, IIT Roorkee, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi.

The meeting discussed the potential and scope of reservoir-based floating solar projects, along with policy and regulatory considerations for scaling up FPV deployment in India. The efforts and contributions of all stakeholders involved in bringing out the report were appreciated.

ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರದ ನಾರಾಯಣಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವರ 40 ಎಕರೆ ಜಮೀನು ಈಗ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ರೈತರ ಕೃಷಿ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪೂರೈಸಲು ನೆರವಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಜಮೀನನ್ನು #PMKUSUM C ಸೌರ ಯೋಜನೆಗೆ ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆ ನೀಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವರು ಸ್ಥಿರ ಆದಾಯದ ಮೂಲವನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ, 27 ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳ ಕೃಷಿ ಪಂಪ್‌ಸೆಟ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಗಲಿನ ವೇಳೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪೂರೈಕೆಗೆ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
