🕊️ Today we honor and remember Sergeant Cory Slifko at the National Law Enforcement Memorial Service.
Sergeant Cory Slifko served with honor and distinction for 20 years with the @SouthStPaulPD Police Department. A dedicated husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Cory was a driven officer who rose through the ranks, living by the motto “Service Before Self.” He was the kind of cop who excelled in every role, loved his community, and was deeply respected by all who knew him.
Behind the badge, Cory carried the invisible wounds of the job — multiple work-related injuries that led to chronic pain and surgeries, along with duty-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. On November 5, 2019, he died by suicide as a result of these cumulative injuries. His loss left behind his loving wife Katie and their two young children.
Cory’s story has become a powerful call for greater awareness, mental health support, and expanded benefits for law enforcement officers and their families. Thanks in part to his legacy, important legislation has passed to ensure that officers who suffer the hidden toll of this profession are properly supported.
We will never forget Sergeant Slifko’s sacrifice. His service, courage, and commitment to protecting and serving will always be remembered.
Never Forgotten.

@DeRushaJ As a new cop, I worked 5 10 hr shifts in a row. The first 3 were overnight, 9 pm to 7 am, and the last two for the week were 5 pm to 3 am. That 8 hr turnaround was brutal.
