Think Yoruba First (TYF) Condemns the Kidnapping Attack on Schools in Oyo State and Calls for Immediate Security Restructuring
Think Yoruba First (TYF) strongly condemns the horrific kidnapping attacks reportedly carried out by Fulani militants at LA School (Ahoro-Esiele), Community Grammar School (Ahoro-Esiele), and Baptist Nursery and Primary School (Yawota) in Oyo State. The attacks reportedly resulted in the tragic killing of a teacher and a local motorcycle rider, as well as the abduction of school principals, vice principals, teachers, and an unspecified number of students.
This disturbing incident once again exposes the worsening insecurity that is gradually becoming normalised across the South-West, where innocent Yoruba communities continue to live under fear due to the persistent activities of armed criminal groups and Fulani Militants operating within our forests and rural settlements.
Think Yoruba First expresses deep outrage over the continuous attacks on schools, farmers, travellers, and local communities. The safety and security of the Yoruba people must never be sacrificed in the name of political convenience or national sentiment. No society can thrive where innocent citizens are repeatedly subjected to terror without firm and decisive action from the authorities.
We call on the Federal Government, security agencies, and all relevant authorities to urgently intensify rescue operations, ensure the safe return of the abducted victims, and bring those responsible for these heinous crimes to justice without delay.
Furthermore, we reiterate our long-standing call for the immediate establishment of State Police and comprehensive constitutional restructuring that genuinely reflects Nigeria’s diversity and empowers indigenous communities to actively participate in securing their lives, lands, and property.
We also urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Yoruba political leaders, traditional rulers, and stakeholders across Yorubaland to collectively support urgent security reforms that will restore confidence among the people. Effective security can only be achieved through structures that understand the local terrain, language, culture, and realities of the communities they are meant to protect.
No meaningful development can take place under an atmosphere of fear and insecurity. The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of every government.
Think Yoruba First stands in solidarity with the affected families and communities during this painful period and calls on all well-meaning Nigerians to support sincere, practical solutions to restore peace, justice, and stability across the country.
