Can we start a discussion about stand alone midwife led units remote from a hospital and the information needed for parents to make informed decisions about whether they choose to labour in these units.

@MartynPitman The agenda will be to stop labours being escalated to a obstetric unit. More MW labours is a cheaper option to keep them open. My wife’s fundal height was 37cm at 40 weeks and no discussion of risk or scan. Wee one had FGR and was badly injured from a delay in labour.

@FionaWinserRamm A phrase the MW used with us was, ‘labour is the most dangerous journey of our life’ then when our baby was brain damaged, ‘obviously something has happened that couldn’t have been expected. All the time they knew the didn’t observe and escalate properly.

@catherineroyuk Here, here! We are neither vulnerable, disadvantaged or have communication issues and our daughter is still dead due to “neglect” and “a number of gross failings of the most basic nature” as we described tonight. This is true for so, so many other families.

I cannot emphasise enough how the shutters of the NHS slam down after your baby dies, leaving you outside. Medical records are full of lies. 'Independent' investigations further obfuscate. Managers try to shut you down through various tactics.

Only our lawyers are on our side.

@optimalclampin1 @BBCMBuchanan It’s amazing how educated, apparently caring people can be such bullies. They lied to us as soon as Moo was born when we had no idea what was going on. The MW told the paed it was a 2 hr 2nd stage. She’s overwritten the work No Cervix 3 hr 15 mins before birth. Cause of injury
