As World Water Day last week reminded us the importance of water for all. We hear first hand from families like Maikolo's where the children and female members are the first to feel the relief when a household is water secure.
Creating truly transformational food systems in our world means ensuring inclusivity for all individuals in our communities. Every person deserves a seat at the table and access to nutritious food.
Leading up to #IWD we have held a 4 day cooking and nutrition workshop for our community groups and stakeholders. We were fortunate to have Richard Beyer a Food Scientist guide the process, while the participants forged ahead.
A solution to the growing crises at hand from the impacts of climate change and disasters is the inclusion of women as farmers to provide their households with more nutritious diets and possible pathways for income by selling surplus to local markets.
We are reaching our communities to conduct rapid re-induction meetings for our TRIP II project. These engagements help kickstart our re-engagement for a ne year, revising rural community priorities and investing in our kainga that need it the most.
We have begun a series of District meetings with Local Government. This updates progress of development initiatives and what is planned for this year before meeting with community members. Tongatapu districts underway, before going to outer islands.
We wish our friends and family a festive season and a prosperous new year. As we close down starting today, we return Jan 12th to continue our services to our rural communities with renewed strength and commitment.
