15 years ago today, Frank Ocean released his iconic ‘nostalgia, ULTRA.’⁠

The bright orange BMW E30 M3 on the cover of the mixtape became one of Frank Ocean’s most iconic visuals, yet it wasn’t actually his car. The image was actually pulled from a 2009 BMW forum listing on https://t.co/WbGqJMJkHo, posted by a user named “Dricebug,” who had photographed the modified 1988 E30 M3 in Hockessin, Delaware.⁠

Frank reportedly found the photo while finalizing the mixtape and chose it because the E30 M3 was his dream car and perfectly matched the project’s themes of nostalgia and summer memories. ⁠

Frank never ended up buying the original car photographed from the cover to which was later sold to another forum user under the name "Evans61" for around $12,000. However, years later, Frank fulfilled his dream by purchasing his own orange E30 M3, custom-built by Castro Motorsports.

เมื่อวานทำงานวันสุดท้ายที่เว็บจองโรงแรมตัวโดนอันดับหนึ่งของไทย 🤣 อยู่ที่นี่มา 4 ปีเต็ม เลยอยากมา note ไว้เล่นๆว่ามี fact อะไรที่น่าสนใจบ้างเท่าที่จะแชร์ได้ ผมว่าที่นี่น่าจะเป็นที่สนใจของ dev หลายๆคน

- ที่นี่เงินเดือนสูงกว่าตลาดจริงแค่ mid level น่าจะถึง 100k ได้สบายๆ แต่ผมว่าเดี๋ยวน���้บริษัท tech ในไทยก็พยายามสู้เงินเดือนกันสุดๆเพื่อดึง talent มาที่บอตัวเอง

- เงินเดือนสูงแต่สัมภาษณ์ยากกว่าชาวบ้านเช่นกัน จากการเป็น candidate หรือเป็น interviewer นิดหน่อย เราให้ที่นี่ยากสุดที่เคยเจอมา interviewer คือถามยาก ถามลึก เค้นจนกว่าจะตายไปข้าง สัมเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ ต้องเตรียมตัวไปดีพอสมควร

- เมื่อก่อนคนชอบแซวว่าจ้าง dev หลักแสนไปแก้สีเว็บ เป็น bad joke ที่จริงส่วนหนึ่ง แต่ลองคิดดูว่าเว็บที่คนเข้าหลักหลายล้านคน จะขยับแต่ละครั้งต้องคิดเยอะมาก แรกๆผมก็ไม่เข้าใจ แต่ถ้าได้เข้า war room ซักรอบจะซึ้งเลย 😱

- จริงๆแล้วที่นี่ยิ่งใหญ่กว่าที่เราคิดมาก มีแทบทุกอย่างที่โลก software ให้ทำ ไม่ว่าคุณถนัดหรือสนใจด้านไหนก็สามารถเติบโตจากที่นี่ได้ทั้งหมด

- ที่บอกว่าใหญ่นี่ใหญ่แค่ไหน? จากข้อมูล public เรามี 2 พันล้าน interactions/วัน price checks (เช็กราคา) 1 ล้านล้านครั้ง/วัน tech team มี 2,000++ คน
.
- จากตัวเลขด้านบน ไม่ต้องพูดถึงการออกแบบ features หรือสร้าง internal tools มีความท้าทายอยู่ทุกจุด
.
- เราจริงจังกับการ test มาก มี test ทุกรูปแบบ test ทุกอย่าง test เยอะจัด แต่เขียนดีไม่ดีอีกเรื่องนึง ใครสนใจการทำ software เต็มรูปแบบจะได้เรียนรู้จากที่นี่เยอะมาก

- บอนี่ทำ A/B กันโหดสุดๆ ใช้ Data ตัดสินใจทุกอย่าง ซึ่งเป็นข้อดีและข้อเสียในบางส่วน ใครเป็นสาย move fast, gut feeling อาจจะอยู่ยากหน่อย เราใช้ Data คุยกันอย่างเดียว feature ไหนไม่ดีก็จะโดนปรับอย่างรวดเร็ว หรือโดนถอดทิ้งไปเลย

- เราลงทุนกับงา��ฝั่ง tech เยอะมาก พอๆกับฝั่ง product ใครที่เบื่องานฝั่ง product ทำ features ยังมีงานฝั่ง tooling, platform, pure tech ให้ทำอีกเพียบ
.
- เป็นธรรมดาของ Big tech ที่บางครั้ง งานเครียด, งานหนัก, งานยาก, ทีมดี, ทีมห่วย, งานน่าเบื่อ, ไม่เติบโต แตกต่างไปแต่ละทีม ต้องหา position ของตัวเองให้เจอซึ่งสำคัญมาก อยาก���ด้งานแบบไหน อยู่ทีมไหน เติมโตไปทางไหนต้องเลือกเอง

- มี career path ชัดเจน สามารถเติมโตได้ทั้ง IC หรือ EM impact, road map ของงานจะใหญ่ขึ้นไปเรื่อยๆ จาก plan หลักวัน -> เดือน -> หลายเดือน

- เราทำ 1-1 กับ Manager จริงจัง ไม่รู้ว่าเดี๋ยวนี้ 1-1 เป็นที่นิยมในไทยหรือยัง ที่นี่เราจริงจังกับ career growth มาก ทั้ง IC หรือ EM path คุณสามารถเลือกเติบโตได้ทั้งคู่

- คนเก่งแม่งเก่งมากกก หลายคนที่เป็น Staff+ จากทุกมุมโลกอยู่ที่น���่ วิธีคิด การแก้ปัญหา คือ another level ทำ design review กันตาแตก ผมเรียนรู้จากคนพวกนี้เยอะมาก เพิ่งเข้าใจว่าของจริงมันเป็นแบบนี้

ใหม่: เพลงเพราะ 1 เพลงนับ 1 คะแนน ฟังแล้วเฉย ๆ ไม่มีคะแนน ห่วยแตก -1 และถ้ามีคอนเซปท์อัลบั้ม +1
