It’s a great weekend for a swim meet! 20 MOR swimmers are in Atlanta for the inaugural Best of the South swim meet. Some of the best teams from across the South will be there and MOR’s swimmers are raring for action! The racing starts tomorrow morning at 10. Good luck to all!

Three MOR alumni collided at the NJIT Invite this weekend! MOR ‘21’s JJ Chapman (UMBC), Ellie Russin (Vermont), and Ben Russell (NYU) all met up at their meet in New Jersey. Even when you’re in college you never forget your MOR family! #MORinCollege

Congrats to the quartet of Christian Smith (27.33), Mason Hetzell (29.37), David Quaresma (26.09) and Wells Walker (22.65) on SMASHING the MOR team record in the men’s 200 medley relay! The boys swam a time of 1:45.44 to take over 5 seconds off the record of 1:50.85. Way to go!

We also saw Owen VonWeihe swim his FIRST Winter Junior Nationals qualifying time, swimming a quick 2:24.18 in the 200 breast to get under the cut of 2:24.79 and qualify himself for the meet in December. Way to go!

Another big day for the Marlins in Michigan! Christian Smith started the morning off with a bang, notching his FIRST Summer Junior Nationals cut in the men’s 100 back! Christian swam a time of 58.77 to sneak under the cut of 58.79 and punch his ticket to Irvine next month!

Congratulations are in order for Hudson DeGroote, who notched his FIRST Summer Junior Nationals cut this evening in Michigan in the men’s 400 IM! Hudson swam a quick 4:32.59 to slide under the cut of 4:33.09 and punch his ticket to Irvine, CA in August. Way to go! #MORisBetter

Congratulations are in order for MOR alum Justin Ress, who qualified for the United States World Championship team this past week! Justin had an outstanding meet at the International Team Trials, placing 2nd in the 50 back with the third-fastest time in history (23.92).

Ryan is a senior at Raleigh Charter High School, and swims in Coach Silver’s Senior Elite group in central Raleigh. He is a multi-event sectional qualifier and a member of Team NC’s 2021 Zone team that captured the team title in Tupelo this past summer.
