@PulseNigeria247 The development of the state is largely a physical planning venture and the present administration has a vision to make Lagos state liveable and a model city, so we hope to have made huge strides in achieving this goal. #AskMPUD
@PulseNigeria247 2/2). We’ve also had a lot of people comply with the rules and regulations which gladdens our heart intensely.
The huge response gotten has also helped us generate more revenue for the government in terms of fines and fees.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 1/2) The impact/response has been tremendous, we’ve had a lot of people coming to the ministry and even messaging us on our social media channels to make inquiries and blow whistles on illegal developments because they’re now aware of the rules.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (1/3) Thank you, we want to achieve a sustainable, liveable, a habitable, tourist and business-friendly Lagos state and to achieve this, we need Lagosians to BUILD RIGHT and BUILD BY THE RULES.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 The ministry and its agencies have taken deliberate steps to sensitize Lagosians through mass media platforms on the rules and regulations of building in the state. We have also been cracking down on offenders and demolishing distressed buildings before they collapse.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (3/3) There’s a rapid growth of urbanization in the state and that’s why the Government is trying to keep up with its inspections and tests, we have recently recruited over 300 professionals and we hope to curb building collapse totally in Lagos State.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 2/3) That’s why we now insist that your drawing must have a seal and numbers of the professional bodies in the country.
People also use substandard materials which is why our testing lab (LSMTL) is there to check but you know some will find a way to evade these things. #AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (1/3) A number of things contribute to building collapse, man-made ones include -
Not employing the services of registered and professional architects, engineers, town planners, and builders. Some people use quacks and do overnight buildings. Report such buildings to us
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (5/5) Remember, you don't have to know anyone in Government or the ministry to get anything done. You can reach out to us on social media for assistance or come to the ministry/agencies branches close to you for steps to take.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (4/5) LASPPPA and LASBCA work hand in hand to inspect the architectural drawing and approve, once approved, you upload your drawings for us to start processing your planning permit.
You’re informed of the next steps to take at each stage of your development.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (3/5) Or go to the office of the Surveyor General to know if the property is under Government acquisition. If it's not, bring it to the ministry and we’ll give you planning information which is free of charge, then we’ll advise you on the next steps to take
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (2/5) What we do is advice you on the steps and parastatals to consult.
Before you build, the first thing to do is land procurement, it is advisable for you to know what you can do on the said land.
Before paying for the land, ask for planning information.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (1/5) It isn’t about moving from one agency to the other, some requirements don't fall under our roles. For example, if you want to build on a swampy ground, you need to do a soil test first and it’s a town planning consultant that will carry this out.
#AskMPPUD
@PulseNigeria247 (4/4) People also need to understand that the pre-screening process duration is largely based on them, ensure that you have all the necessary requirements before applying so your application doesn’t get delayed. We’re looking at and are still improving on these services
