The @MPPindustry's sector transition strategies show that it is possible to fully decarbonise steel, cement & concrete production by 2050. Annual embodied emissions will fall close to zero for buildings built after mid-century.

Reaching net-zero by 2050 would also mean cumulative emissions from new construction would fall from 75 GtCO2 to 40 GtCO2 – but this would still use up about 20% of the remaining 1.5°C carbon budget.

$LNZA: Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) @MPPindustry announces collaboration with LanzaTech at the Abu Dahbi Sustainability Week @ADSWagenda to drive innovative projects in sustainable aviation fuel, waste-to-energy, along with steel mills and heavy chemicals.

ITA, launched at COP28 in December 2023 and funded by Michael Bloomberg and the UAE 🇦🇪, is a global initiative aimed at decarbonizing heavy-emitting industries like aluminum, cement, chemicals, steel, shipping, and aviation, which collectively account for 30% of global emissions. It accelerates commercial-scale, clean industrial projects to become operational by 2030, addressing barriers such as high costs, technical challenges, and regulatory obstacles.

The ITA also promotes demand for low-carbon products, potentially unlocking $700 billion in investments for decarbonization initiatives.
