The decision on Jackdaw must mark the tipping point for the transformation - not a fresh excuse to put it off.
It's time to drive down demand for gas and wean ourselves off fossil fuels. It's why Lib Dems are calling for the rapid expansion of climate-friendly heating systems.
As websites have been taken down, following critical php vulnerabilities, this is another reminder of how important cyber security is.
That's why our call for a proper digital sovereign strategy is about supporting British tech as well as improving our resilience.
Farmers have been left high and dry by the SFI shambles - a policy appallingly designed by the Conservatives and woefully implemented by Labour.
Today, @LibDems led a debate in Parliament calling for proper support for farmers to protect our environment AND produce food.
Today, I challenged Labour ministers to go much further to stop water companies from dumping sewage in Britain's waterways.
So it was utterly bizarre to see Tory MPs yet again annoyed at Lib Dems raising this issue.
We won't stop fighting to protect our rivers, lakes and seas.
Cross-party support for new nuclear in Scotland on display in Parliament ⚛️
@mpsusanmurray, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Scotland, led a Westminster Hall debate on the future of nuclear energy in Scotland, highlighting the strong cross-party support for new nuclear.
Contributions highlighted the jobs and investment opportunities the sector could bring, alongside the need for reliable, clean baseload power. @Jamie4North made the case for new nuclear at Scotland’s former nuclear sites, @DLumsden_MP highlighted public support, and @melanie_ward, Minister for Scotland, underlined why nuclear should be part of Scotland’s future, not just its past.
It was fantastic to see figures from the Nuclear Industry Association’s 2026 Civil Nuclear Jobs Map referenced throughout the debate.
Thank you to the MPs who contributed to the lively debate. We will continue to champion new nuclear in Scotland and the opportunities it can deliver for communities across the country.

The crisis in social care is at the heart of these pressures, but the SNP have failed to tackle it.
We need to get people the care packages they need, letting them leave hospital on time and freeing up bed space for new patients.
“I think he is the most successful leader we’ve had in 100 years.”
Lib Dem MP Dr Mike Martin says he has “100% confidence” in Sir Ed Davey’s leadership amid recent resignations.

The Green Party motion stokes anti-Jewish hatred and does nothing to combat antisemitism or islamaphobia.
Turning to the extremes is no way to bring people together or help people feel safer.
We stand with our British Jewish friends and neighbours.
That the antisemitic entryists who have captured the Green Party, are being antisemitic, is no surprise. That the Party Leader skipped this vote and failed to use his authority to argue against them, is an astonishing act of weakness. Real Greens are welcome in the Lib Dems…
From unsafe buildings to homes not up to scratch, @StillmanPat1 is hearing first-hand about the housing issues facing people in Holborn and St Pancras.
Patrick and the Lib Dems want to make sure every home is safe, secure and affordable.
It is right to have a social security system which treats people with the dignity and respect they deserve, but we also need to address the increasing costs of the system.
A customs union with the EU is the single biggest step the government could take to grow our economy, put money back into people's pockets and generate billions for our public services.
The Prime Minister must now listen to Parliament and the public.
The delayed and overbudget ferries built at Ferguson's are the direct result of the SNP's decisions, but ministers still talk as if it is nothing to do with them. They still haven't put forward a proper plan for the yard's future and the future of the workers.
Nicola Sturgeon promised to close the poverty-related attainment gap in schools by 2026. Since then the gap for primary literacy is just one percentage point smaller. At that rate of progress it would take more than a century to close.
People are crying out for real change and a solution to the cost-of-living crisis.
