Many thanks to the Positive Pines under the leadership of Ms. Doran for their collection and organization of over 415 boxes of cereal. This afternoon was very exciting as we watched the boxes fall domino style in one fell swoop. https://t.co/aZNODPMraV
@MarianaPT_OCT@pwharris I also thought of it as 75 being 3/4 of 100 so thought 16x100 would be 1600. Then thought how easy it is to quarter 16 and taking 3/4 of 1600 which would be 1200…not as direst as yours but I got there.
@KekePalmer Check the entire perimeter of the dwelling. Mine got out and had squeezed herself as close to the house as possible, face buried into the wall. She was concealed by the bushes so I didn’t see her. When it happened again, I found her in the same way, just a different spot.
@SteveWyborney working on this Esti-Mystery today and one child remarked, this is more fun than Gym…then I got more fun then recess, lunch, art, and video games. If that isn’t an endorsement, I don’t know what is! @ShingwakonsPS@OCDSB
Finished up our project on concussions from Rowan’s Law Day, and have shared it with the whole school so we can all be aware! @ShingwakonsPS@OCDSB#hitstopsit
Happy October everyone!
This month is TYSON's month.
It is not very often that we get to see Black boys as mathematical thinkers in picture books, but TOO-SMALL TYSON does just that! It features Black boys, brotherhood, Black joy, and proportional thinking!
Our school was selected to participate in this year’s #AdoptaSchool fundraiser! From now until October 2, every dollar donated at Kanata Chapters will go towards filling our school with new and diverse books. Please help us reach our goal of raising $5,000
As I get ready to go back into the classroom, I’m thinking carefully about the activities my students will be engaging in. Dos and Don’ts for the First 2 Weeks of Elementary Math Classes https://t.co/nu4LuOf7CT @ShingwakonsPS@OCDSB
Here are some of my favorite non-curricular tasks
I am rereading #buildingthinkingclassrooms & am really determined to begin the year getting more students thinking deeply about math for more of the time FROM DAY 1

We used to teach poetry in 1 unit/yr & be surprised when students didn't remember it the next yr. Would you remember what you were taught for only 20 days a year?
Develop❤️4 poetry by weaving it yr-round.

Forcing everything into the written word is a way of suppressing certain student voices in your classroom... assess with written and spoken language! #ISTELive22#ISTE22@HollyClarkEdu
