This was not what we expected.

The students turned the tables on the engineers, delivering an 11–7 victory in a goal-frenzy thriller.

What was expected to be another chapter of Engineer dominance became a statement win for the students, who emphatically rewrote the rivalry.

Over the past few weeks, we've been steadily bringing Gean in line with the latest protocol developments, improving correctness, tightening interoperability, and preparing for broader multi-client testing.

We have completed devnet-4 development and currently participating in the devnet-4 multi-client interop run.

Here are some of the notable implementations done for devnet-4

Another step forward for @geanclient.

Devnet 5 is now complete, and we're actively testing interoperability alongside other Lean Ethereum clients.

The network is operating as expected, with blocks being proposed, justified, and finalised seamlessly across participating clients.

A major improvement in this devnet is the introduction of full-block aggregation, which dramatically reduces block size without compromising security or performance.

Each milestone brings us closer to a quantum-resistant Ethereum.

GEAN - Africa’s First Independent Lean Ethereum Client.

@geanclient is our contribution to the future of Ethereum.

Built in Go under Gean Labs here in Jos, Nigeria, Gean is an independent implementation of @leanEthereum, Ethereum’s post-quantum consensus redesign focused on long-term resilience and cryptographic security.

While most people are still talking about the future of blockchain, we’re actively building towards it.

What makes this even more important to me is that this is happening from Africa. From Jos. By builders who genuinely care about open-source infrastructure, protocol research, and pushing deeper into core blockchain engineering.

Gean works closely with the Lean Ethereum research team and contributes towards:

• Post-quantum readiness
• Client diversity
• Decentralization of Ethereum core development globally

This is bigger than just another blockchain project.

A new generation of Nigerian Solana builders is emerging through @SuperteamNG and @blockfuselabs.

And watching that transformation happen over the past 13 weeks has been incredible.

These developers started this journey trying to understand core blockchain concepts.

Now they’re building on Solana, shipping products, participating in hackathons, deploying on @solanamobile, collaborating across teams, and even earning mini grants from @superteam.

None of it came easy.

Massive respect to @biellonuhu as well for the level of mentorship and leadership poured into this bootcamp throughout the entire journey.

The consistency, patience, technical guidance, and commitment to helping these developers improve have been amazing to witness.

What’s happening here is much bigger than a boot camp.

We’re seeing real builders emerge for the Nigerian Solana ecosystem.

And over the coming days, we’ll be sharing more of the projects, stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and developer journeys that came out of this experience.
