[Derpy: From Folklore to Decentralized Icon]

Haetae (Haechi, 獬廌) is a legendary creature said to possess the ability to distinguish right from wrong.
From this mythical animal came the concept of law (法), which later became a symbol of national authority overseeing judicial power.

In front of Gwanghwamun Gate in Seoul stands a statue of Haechi, regarded as both a symbol of power and a guardian spirit that repels evil.
The City of Seoul adapted this creature into a tiger-shaped mascot, subtly reflecting Seoul’s role as the nation’s capital and the center of governmental authority.

In old Korea, Sato (使道) referred to a local magistrate who governed provincial offices, exercising both administrative and judicial powers. However, some magistrates abused their authority, becoming corrupt and oppressing the common people. Such figures naturally became subjects of satire and public criticism.

In this context, the people created Hojakdo (虎鵲圖) a folk painting depicting the tiger Haechi as greedy and corrupt, tormenting the populace. The tiger’s eyes and facial expressions were humorously exaggerated, mocking those in power. From this tradition emerged DERPY, a character whose name reflects a playful “silly” demeanor.

Alongside the tiger, the painting also features the SuSSY Magpie, a symbol of a messenger bringing good news. Thus, the Hojakdo Derpy’s original motif has been passed down as a satire of centralized power while delivering messages of hope and joy to the common people.

Most importantly, DERPY, as a decentralized character free from the control of any authority, embodies the spirit of independence and satire making it a perfect icon for the crypto industry.

在制作关于 @MRC20_Derpy 玩爬梯子游戏（ladder game）的 GIF 之前，我其实已经和 Derpy 在 @MemeX_MRC20 上有过一些互动。

之前我在一篇内容里提到，牛排店关门了，是时候让 Derpy 出来表演煎牛排了。

那原本只是很随意、半开玩笑的一句话，并没有什么特别的目的。但之后，Derpy 真的在 MemeX 上分享了他自己煎的牛排照片。

那一刻，我觉得这个互动挺有意思的。

后来，Derpy 又发了一则关于 ladder game 的短视频。我也去和他互动讨论。当时有个有趣的迷信说法是：只要选择离 “꽝” 最远的位置，好像就比较不容易中招。

于是，我自己也跑去模拟测试了 20 多次。

结果发现，好像也没什么用 😂

所以，我就把其中一个相对简单的测试作为灵感，做成了这个 Derpy 的 ladder game GIF。

这也让我想到：

Life is meme, meme is life.

因为一些简单的对话和互动，并没有停留在对话本身。它们可以变成一篇贴文，也可以变成 MemeX 社区里一个小小的共同记忆。

大家在 MemeX 上分享自己的日常生活，从一些很小的互动、对话和经历里，慢慢创造出 meme 元素，再让这些瞬间一起被传播出去。
