We are pleased to share highlights from our engagement with the students of @rvce_official on 02 June 2026 through a lecture on "Underwater Domain Awareness (#UDA) Framework for Safe, Secure, Sustainable Growth for All in the Tropical Waters of the Indian Ocean Region (#IOR)."

Delivered by our Founder and Director, Dr. (Cdr) @Arnab_UDA, the session introduced students to the multidisciplinary dimensions of #UDA and its growing significance in addressing maritime security, environmental sustainability, and the Blue Economy.

This lecture forms part of an ongoing lecture series being conducted by the @MRCPune during #June and #July, aimed at creating awareness and encouraging young minds to #engage with emerging challenges and opportunities in the #underwater domain.

We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (#MoU) between the Maritime Research Center (@MRCPune) and the @dgshipping_IN, marking an important step towards strengthening technology-driven and policy-aligned solutions for the maritime sector.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Shipping, Government of India, and Dr. (Cdr) @Arnab_UDA, Founder & Director, MRC. This collaboration advances the Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) framework to address critical maritime challenges, including Underwater Radiated Noise (URN), Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), Sediment Management, and Biofouling Management.

Together, we look forward to a close collaboration with India’s highest maritime regulatory authority on maritime and underwater governance. Going forward, we will work closely with the DG Shipping office on various projects and initiatives aimed at advancing Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA)-driven Marine Spatial Planning (#MSP).

The session highlighted how underwater acoustics connect maritime security, blue economy, marine biodiversity, disaster management, and scientific research. Dr Das also shared insights into @MRCPune's, freshwater dolphin monitoring work across the Ganga, Brahmaputra & Chilika Lake using underwater acoustic tools.

The discussion on the COVID-19 “Anthropause” and its impact on underwater acoustic baselines further reinforced the importance of indigenous acoustics capacity building, research, innovation, and skilling for India’s maritime future.
