NLO Sledge Hammer Falls On Peace FC

The full wrath of the Nationwide League One (NLO) law has been unleashed on Peace FC of Anambra, which faces charges of illegally fielding Nigeria National League players in the NLO matches and submitting false registration documents.

These actions breach NLO Rules on Player Eligibility and Amateur Status (Articles 3:01, (5), (8), (11), (13) and 9:02).

The players involved are Abasim Henry (Solution FC, NNL/2025/2026/SFC/043, until 20/06/2026), Mbakaogu Chibuike (EDEL FC, NNL/2025/2026/EFC/027, until 30/10/2027), and Ekwo Stanley (Solution FC, NNL/2025/2026/SFC/016, until 30/08/2026).

These infractions were uncovered during routine verification by the NLO Secretariat. On 19th May 2026, the Disciplinary Committee found them guilty of serious misconduct that damages the integrity of the amateur league.

Sanctions include the immediate forfeiture of all matches involving the ineligible players, with opposing teams awarded 3 points and a 3-0 scoreline (or the actual higher score, if applicable), for each affected match.

A fine of N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) must be paid to the NLO Secretariat within 7 days. The club is suspended from all NLO competitions for the rest of the 2025/2026 season and placed on probation for two seasons.

Any further violations during this period could lead to heavier sanctions, including possible league expulsion. The responsible club official is banned from all football-related activities under NLO for 12 months.

This decision is effective immediately, but Peace FC has the right to appeal to the Nigeria Football Federation Appeals Committee within 72 hours of receiving this ruling, in accordance with the NLO Appeals Procedure.
