Winning parties normally get about 40%. Starmer got 33%. It was a protest vote.
Although we vote for local MPs, the majority vote for leader/party.
Burnham 0%

But Starmer got less and won because the Tory voters stayed at home. Probably understandably. Won’t happen again.

Labour fiddled this.
An MP resigned for no reason to let Burnham in. Not one of the 400+ MPs stood against him.
Labour got 33% of the vote.
