Putt all you want! Once a stroke is conceded, the decision is made. Further strokes are then practice putts that are allowed in match play. This isn’t a debate, it’s a fact that it does not matter if you miss or not.
This is REMARKABLE.
Scratch vs 12-index players from 125-yards in fairway.
Only shots where hole is 5-yards or less from side.
Notice that scratch players shift pattern toward center of green.
Notice that 12-index players do NOT shift toward center!
10-index player.
Average shots to hole-out from 100-yards:
▶️~3.39
Average shots to hole-out from 50-yards:
▶️~3.15
That is a difference of a quarter shot!!!
If you are "laying up to your favorite number", you are likely leaving shots on the table.

I was in the room when this happened and it was just as gross and wild in person as it is here.
People rightly discuss conflicts of interest of members of Congress, but lobbying of senior staff (who move on behalf of members + committees) is a huge part of the problem too.
What is one golf-related phrase, word, stat or reference that everyone uses but you don’t understand and have always been afraid to ask what it means?
(Feels like this is not an original question, but I can’t remember who first asked it).
I’ll drop my answer shortly.
How to play better golf in six steps:
1⃣Pick a good target
2⃣REALLY commit to that target
3⃣Understand and accept you will RARELY hit that target
4⃣Hit the ball
5⃣Go find the ball
6⃣Go back to step 1
What a world we live in! With all the bad shit going on in the world, people are in an uproar about one of the nicest guys on the planet walking in front of another player while reading a putt! Stop trying to make this an issue!
Ken Griffen made trading a blood sport in which he ruled like Caesar at the Colosseum. High frequency operations to front run trades, backing unlimited shorting as well as other tactics allowed him to go #thumbdown crushing retail investors. It's always been macabre fun for him.
Maybe the Olympics and F1 have warped my brain but I think golf tournaments need top-3 podiums. Make em a career stat, too.
In F1 there's only 20 guys and they get FIRED UP finishing 3rd. On the PGA Tour there are like, 150 pros and it's win or bust.
I will lead this movement.
