Your leaders are learning at the CTA Region 3 Leadership Conference. Do you want to learn about what we do? Ask Pres. Joan Sholars about attending a CCA conference in February or April.
Come have coffee in Founders Hall until 11:30 today! I will also be at Common Grounds between 1:30 and 2:30 if you would like me to buy you a coffee there!
Teachers in my hometown of Oakland will begin striking tomorrow because they know they deserve a raise. It's shameful that they don’t earn enough to live in the communities where they teach. I firmly support the teachers & hope for a quick resolution. https://t.co/3asxopSY89
The FA award applications are now available on the FA's website, https://t.co/kFnuSxTiv0 in the "Documents" section. Please encourage your top Mt. SAC students to apply!
As a reminder, CTA is strongly supporting Tony Thurmond for Superintendent of Public Instruction. This position oversees county offices of education, which oversee fiscal aspects of most local community colleges. Vote for Tony!
The FA needs people who live in or near Covina to canvass for Ruth Luevand! We will be going door to door from 10 - 2 on the 13th and the 27th. Contact Joan Sholars at [email protected] if you can help elect Ruth!
Negotiations finally over for this year -- sort of. 2.71% pay increase, a few nice benefits for adjuncts, but medical benefits and any one-time payments have been postponed to January.
Thanks to Prof. Tom Edson for sending me this link -- while Mark Janus may not wish to be supported by his union, his union has certainly worked to support him.

Don't forget about Coffee with the FA President this Wednesday and Thursday at the Prime Stop. Free coffee for faculty between 9-11 if you stop by and see me!
The proposed State budget includes 2.51% for COLA but no new money for STRS contributions. A new online college is proposed as is a move away from FTES funding. These are aggressive changes to our structure.
There is a STRS workshop for newer faculty (1st 5 years) at Chaffey College on 19 January. See https://t.co/OGujiyFpn3 for more information. This same workshop will be at Mt. SAC on 9 March. See the calendar at https://t.co/EGFkfefN6R .
