@NBA2K@espn It would be great if the game actually felt as realistic as this quote suggests. Right now, especially in 5v5, the gameplay still feels too fast and arcade-like for an NBA simulation.
@Jacob7614250699@2KIntel Because “video game” doesn’t automatically mean “arcade.” Sports games should still aim to represent the sport realistically while staying fun and playable. That’s kind of the whole point of a basketball simulation.
@SiimplyGrinding I’d really like to see 5v5 game speed slowed down again. REC feels way too fast after the last gameplay update, and a slightly slower pace would make spacing, positioning and defensive reads feel much better.
@KINGPiN_Guwop Personally, I think the game is already pretty far from real basketball right now and leans much more toward arcade, especially after the game speed change. And somehow parts of the community still think it’s not arcade enough… which says a lot about this Community 😉
@LD2K@TokyoTopps@Koza2k_ My biggest feedback is game speed is too fast, especially in REC/5v5. Pre-patch felt much better — still fast, but controlled enough for spacing, positioning and IQ to matter. Now too many games feel like fast-forward with unrealistically quick recoveries.
@EarvGotti242 Nobody is asking for NBA shooting % in a video game. But if good players are already shooting around 55–60%, that should be more than enough. That’s already well above real basketball. If people need 70%+ to consider shooting “good,” this stops resembling basketball at all.
@nelsonblake2@Beluba@itsEvanCC Spot on! The launch tempo was the best 5v5 experience in years. Reverting the speed back to launch settings or at least turning down the game speed again is the only way to save the REC right now.
@PayrollNEQ@SimGamingNetwrk Exactly. In my opinion, 2K25 was also a much better game than 2K26, which was just plain bad... If they had just built on 2K25 back then, 2K27 would probably be a pretty solid basketball game right now, and there wouldn't be as many problems now - as you already mentioned...
@neemlad@Beluba Agreed. Fine-tuning shooting, contests and steals was one thing, but changing the overall game speed this early changed the whole feel of the game.
@REDlRKULOUS I think the game speed change is affecting way more than just movement. Shooting timing, rhythm shots, defense and recoveries all feel different now because everything happens faster. I personally don’t think increasing the overall game speed was the right move.
@krazymavsballa@BADGEPLUG Same here. Playing as Center in REC. The realistic gameplay has gone after the patch - for another year. Whoever made this decision doesn't love the game of basketball...
@krazymavsballa@BADGEPLUG Exactly. That’s the problem. Higher game speed makes proper on-ball defense and positioning less effective, so people feel forced to gamble, reach and spam steals. A patch should punish bad defense, not push players into it.
@EduardIljin9 Exactly. Fixing shooting and contests made sense. Cranking up the entire game speed didn’t. The pace was already fine — now it feels like arcade fast-forward and hurts the overall quality of the game. 😵💫
