#2: 80% of the water we use in the San Gabriel Valley comes from groundwater. #3: 100% of the time, our groundwater is in a drought cycle so our care must be constant.
The earth holds our groundwater just 100 yards below the neighborhoods, parks and views we call home in the San Gabriel Valley. As groundwater connects 1.5 million of us in the SGV, it’s our common ground and cause. We all have a role in its care on Earth Day and every day.
Our last post for Groundwater Awareness week is about how our care “Is Constant.” The drought cycle is constant, so our care must be constant too. Our team here—Jocelyn, Kelly, Arrica and Ana—cares for our groundwater every day. Make your care constant too. #WatersConnectUs

At 1 year since the Eaton Fire, we are sharing a a backstory about groundwater. It was our waters at our spreading grounds at Santa Fe Dam and Canyon that helped helicopters and planes douse and put out the flames. Due to our partners, this water was ready when needed most.
Before saying bye to 2025 and hello 2026, we’re focusing on the gift of our groundwater. It gives us most of the water we use all year round. In return, we give it our constant care. It’s our common ground and cause, this year and every year. Happy holidays! #WatersConnectUs
Stories from our just-released Annual Report for 2024–2025 are about our common quest that for our groundwater, our care is constant. Stories like your care to steadily reduce water demand for nearly two decades! We give thanks for you and our groundwater. Happy Thanksgiving!
New Water Year 2026 is here from Oct 1 ’25 to Sept 30 ‘26. In the 2025 water year, our San Gabriel Valley had less than half of our annual average rainfall. Dry conditions create a constant drought cycle. It’s why for our groundwater, our care is constant, too. #WatersConnectUs
Recognizing our partners who import water to our basin based on our Sept update to our 3-year Purchase Plan. With our EO, Kelly Gardner: Jose Reynoso, GM at SGVMWD (L); Matthew Litchfield, GM at 3VMWD (M); and Tom Love, GM of the UpperSGVMWD (R). Together, our care is constant.
So far in this water year (Oct–Sept), our rainfall is less than half its annual average to date. Less than
average rainfall creates dry conditions and a constant drought cycle. Because our drought cycle is
constant, our care for our groundwater must be constant, too.

w/o taking out more than it may get. #WaterAwarenessMonth#WatersConnectUs
We’re working together in all types of weather. Sunny, dry conditions create a constant drought cycle. When there’s rainfall and snow melt, we aim to capture them with stormwater systems so these water sources journey back into our groundwater. #EarthDay#WatersConnectUs
