On 24 February 2026, AALCO and Allameh Tabataba’i University @ATUTehran convened a webinar on “Subsidiary Means for the Determination of Rules of International Law.” #InternationalLaw#AsiaAfrica
Thanks to all the speakers and participants, we jointly remembered the efforts made by our predecessors 55 years ago and reaffirmed the importance of FRD, which many pointed out to be probably impossible to adopt by consensus in the current UNGA.
On Oct 29, we held a symposium celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Declaration on Principles of International Law Concerning Friendly Relations, where Amb YAMAZAKI & USG Hammarskjöld gave remarks, followed by a panel discussion w/int'l law experts

International Law Week(ILW) is approaching. 🇯🇵will organize an event for Member States to celebrate 55 years from UNGA’s adoption of the “1970 Friendly Relations Declaration”. ILW missed 50 year’s anniversary due to COVID. So, why not celebrating 55 years? https://t.co/PZZbEZGwnd
This small book “Toward Stronger Rule of Law Against Attempts to Acquire Territory by Force - A Practitioner’s View”will be published in December. Sincerely hope that it serve as a ‘food for thought’ on this important, but actually not very mature, subject.https://t.co/zMRqHYbcch
Delighted to welcome Prof. @DapoAkandeLaw, the UK candidate to the @CIJ_ICJ, to Egypt's mission to the UN. Prof. Akande is a phenomenal jurist, who is deeply committed to the rule of law. I've always benefited from his scholarship and generosity.
Good luck Dapo! @UKUN_NewYork
Back from New York and reflecting on the new #OEWG report: reaching consensus in today’s climate is no small thing, and those who made it happen deserve our praise. But on international law, it’s hard not to feel this was a missed opportunity.

It is disheartening to see today that the strength of international law and humanitarian law no longer seems binding, replaced by the presumed right to overpower others. This is unworthy and shameful for humanity and for the leaders of nations.
Very proud to have published this article on the origins, history, and evolution of the prohibition on intervention in international law and the concept of coercion with International Law Studies, which is issued by the Naval War College, Stockton Center!
Read the latest from our Stockton Center for International Law⚖️- "Intervention, Force & Coercion" - examining coercion as an essential element of non-intervention & how bans on intervention apply in contexts such as economic sanctions & cyberoperations:

Historic majority in the UN today. 137 countries spoke out: It is unacceptable for Israel to block life-saving support to Palestinians under occupation.
Respect for international law must be upheld. Humanitarian access is imperative. Everywhere.
