Our city has always embraced diversity, yet the troubling rise in Islamophobia reminds us of the work still needed. Let's speak out against it, unite for inclusivity, and express gratitude to those in Guelph, especially our Muslim community members, for their ongoing efforts.
Today is National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action Against Islamophobia. Today was designated by the Canadian government in 2021 and honours the survivors and victims of the 2017 shooting. Let us call it out, let us stand together to create unity and let us thank those in Guelph that have shown us how to do exactly that every day, especially those from the Muslim community.
