It was one of the last things leaders discussed

Results in neither side getting what they wanted - CR will only have a clean 1-year farm bill extension, nothing more

Schumer assumed GOP wanted extra economic aid for hurting farmers so much that they would cave on reinvesting IRA conservation $

McConnell + Johnson assumed the reverse. Neither ended up blinking and it all fell apart

Lots of farmers will now be denied loans and $14 billion in IRA conservation funding will run out and likely never be reinvested in the farm bill for years to come
