When MSU legend Tanner Allen got the call to join Banana Ball, he said it felt meant to be.

Allen’s introduction to Banana Ball came as a fan—sitting among thousands of fans when the Party Animals and Texas Tailgaters faced off at The Dude in 2025. Now, the 2021 MSU national champion will join the Loco Beach Coconuts, one of the newest teams in the wildly popular Savannah Bananas organization.

MSU President Mark E. Keenum joined the MSU contingent at the 2026 NCAA Softball Women’s College World Series at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, OK, tonight as the Bulldogs take on the No. 2 ranked University of Texas Longhorns.

In the top photo, Keenum joins MSU AD Zac Selmon while in the bottom photo he greets the “80’s Ladies” - a group of MSU alums of the university’s original softball players.

Madelyn “Sloan” Berry of Brandon and India “Alex” White of Saltillo are Mississippi State’s latest recipients of the nationally renowned Astronaut Scholarship.

A veteran human resources leader who has managed HR programs at the highest levels in shipping, healthcare and retail enterprises is being named Mississippi State’s new chief human resources officer.

Jason I. Hernandez, who holds an Ed.D. from Vanderbilt University in Education, an MBA from Union University, and a B.S. degree in Biology and Social Science from Chapman University, will succeed current CHRO Leslie M. Corey, who is retiring July 1 after more than 31 years of service to the university.
