An AORUS RTX 5090 owner opened the card after noticing the fans spinning faster than usual, reaching around 2,000 RPM while gaming, even though the GPU temperature stayed below 76°C.
After removing the cooler, the owner found that the thermal gel had moved and collected at the top of the vapor chamber, leaving little or no material on the lower part of the GPU chip.
The owner believes this may have caused higher hotspot temperatures, but no hotspot readings were recorded before the card was opened.
The owner plans to replace the original material with Honeywell PTM7950.
