The Poland Generic Design (PGDA) to początek pracy nad szczegółowym, generycznym projektem BWRX‑300. Dzięki tej umowie zyskamy dokumentację projektową reaktora BWRX-300 SMR dostosowaną do przepisów obowiązujących w Polsce. Standardowy projekt, który spełnia polskie wymagania.

Co ważne, prace nad projektem będą realizowane również w Polsce – zarówno przez zespół GVH, który zbuduje w naszym kraju centrum kompetencyjne, jak i przez zespół OSGE.

Jest to pierwszy tego typu projekt SMR na świecie w którym wcielimy w życie zalety małych reaktorów: multiplikowanie projektu w wielu lokalizacjach, seryjną produkcję komponentów do budowy floty elektrowni z reaktorami BWRX-300.

The future of advanced nuclear energy in Illinois hangs in the balance, and the clock is ticking. Will political maneuvering cap the potential of this game-changing technology? The decisions made in the coming days could shape Illinois' energy landscape for decades to come.
Illinois General Assembly is back in session and advanced nuclear is on the table. There’s a possibility of a cap on the size of allowed nuclear. Senator Sue Rezin's initial push to lift the advanced nuclear moratorium hit a wall. Governor Pritzker vetoed Senate Bill 76. His concerns? Vague definitions and potential burdens on ratepayers. Days before the veto session, Rezin fires back with a revised bill. It caps advanced nuclear capacity at 350 MW. Politically savvy? Maybe. Good for Illinois' long-term energy strategy? Maybe not.
The original bill aligned with the federal definition under the Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act. It defines advanced nuclear as a tech with improvements in areas such as safety, waste management, and more. Pritzker argues the definition is too broad. He fears it risks exorbitant ratepayer-funded bailouts. But here's where he's missing the forest for the trees.
The Illinois Commerce Commission scrutinizes all new power plant proposals for economic viability, and Illinois operates in a merchant electricity market. This means that there are mechanisms in place already to protect ratepayers, and that in this market, private companies bear financial risk of large reactors. The cap is a solution in search of a problem.
This cap could also have some unintended consequences.
We've built one advanced reactor, the AP1000. It not only has passive safety, but we've also got experience and a supply chain. Rezin's bill would forfeit the benefits of Georgians paying these first-of-a-kind costs on the Vogtle project. Illinois has loads of coal generation still, and ambitious 2050 climate targets. As fossil fuel plants retire, we need all the clean energy we can get to both lower emissions and create a just transition for workers.
Bottom line: Illinois should let existing mechanisms do their job and keep the door wide open for nuclear reactors of ANY size. With the veto session starting, time is running out to urge IL lawmakers to overturn the veto on SB76 and lift the moratorium on advanced nuclear. Follow this link and do your part!
