Speech pathologist & lecturer. Interested in fluency disorders, mental health, clinical education, and whether what we do makes a difference to a person's life.
@BJHill12 This was about a conf pres on the importance of getting kid's own views on their speech sound & lang issues. They used the KiddyCAT & the #SLPeeps who don't work in #stuttering were saying how great it was. I was proud that stuttering practice was influencing the broad SLP field.
Congratulations also to @salhew on the 2020 Elizabeth Usher Address Award. #NZSPAConf Can't wait to hear it next year at @SpeechPathAus conference at Darwin2020.
This is the first conference where I’ve heard acknowledgement and discussion about white privilege, institutional racism, othering within our services and profession. A sign of a maturing profession #NZSPAconf
Good to hear SPA's apology for our profession's part in discrimination against Indigenous Australians. Also good to hear the first steps the association is taking towards reconciliation - an appropriate start to the 2019 @SpeechPathAus & @NZSTAComms Joint Conference #NZSPAConf
Kids don't hate books. Adults risk inadvertently teaching them to hate books by providing exactly the wrong type of reinforcement. @ProfRvach#NZSPAConf
