Very sad indeed. A colleague on the @MTAwards panel and someone with whom I enjoyed many a thoughtful and intelligent conversation in theatre foyers. Always smiling, always with a positive, encouraging word about theatre and its creators. Will be greatly missed.
@northernluke Dissing regional theatre? Good actors/directors don't do that. @CushJumbo, picking up a gong @MTAwards 2014 for best actress in A Doll’s House, spoke of importance of @rxtheatre to her career and speculated that too many London actors “don’t have the balls” to play the regions

@MTAwards@MTAwards honoured every level of theatre from grass roots to big starry events, in doing this recognised how vital fringe & newcomers are to future theatre, & how a city's culture is many layered. Can we keep this going in some form? It celebrated our diversity & unity.
So sorry to see this news. @MTAwards offered great opportunity for theatre-makers and members of public to discover more about wide range of work presented in the area
@MTAwards@MTAwards brings publicity to a wide range of work that might otherwise go unrecognised. Recognition is its own reward and creates enthusiasm to aim higher. It’s not (just) about gongs. It’s about visibility and nurturing talent.
Very sad to hear this news from @MTAwards We are honoured and grateful to have been acknowledged with a Special Achievement award last year. It is so important that our city has an awards ceremony that recognises productions & artists on every scale. We hope this is not the end.
