I've been testing out a naya Norin the Wary commander deck for the past few weeks, and New Capenna just gave me the ability to essentially make Norin my actual commander. It couldn't possibly be more perfect.
@maro254 Compared to previous un-sets, it seems like Unfinity has more cards that use set mechanics and fewer that do their own thing. Is that the case, and if so, was that part of the plan or just how things turned out?
@Sunless_K Can't recommend a specific one since I got a top-freezer, but I can share the advice I was given by a friend who until recently sold appliances, which is that the most reliable ones are those sold under Whirlpool-owned brands or GE-owned brands other than Hotpoint.
@Sunless_K I gave it a try, but I don't think I'm very good at it. It only took me 6 guesses to get my first big clue, but I didn't make any progress from there until I stumbled into one of the top words at guess 55, and it still took me until 111 to get the actual word.
@Sunless_K It's difficult to know for sure. Companies often decide on a case-by-case basis whether to dispose of an item returned under warranty or fix the problem and sell it as refurbished.
@Sunless_K I know in Arabic, at least, native speakers don't tend to mix up vowel lengths. They're different enough that people sometimes even fail to understand when a non-native speaker uses the wrong vowel length for a word.
@Sunless_K I think this idea is important, and it's why it annoys me that the word empathy is used so much in social and political discussion when compassion would often be more appropriate. You don't need to have an emotional response to someone's suffering to want that suffering to stop.
@TrickMTG Modern Enchantress. Adding lots of mana in batches to cast spells with little/no generic mana in costs while drawing cards multiple times per turn and having meaningful sequencing decisions for every spell you cast and every mana source you tap.
@shaun_vids I'm probably not the type of person you were thinking about when you wrote this, but I think the possibility of limited economic differences allows for the existence of certain valuable incentives. But the system must be carefully designed so those incentives serve society.
@TheRascalan@elektrotal 1)Reliance on combat is a pretty good way of judging that. Another thing I think about is how easy it is to tell when the deck is about to win.
2)Just one, although when mixing Combo and Casual decks it's useful to think about where the Combo deck might fall on the Casual scale.
@elektrotal A friend of mine said you might be interested in this. I made a one-page guide that gives a framework for making sure everyone is on the same page when putting together a Commander game.

@elektrotal So far it's gotten a positive reception from people in my usual playgroup, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it out with strangers just yet. That'll be the real test.
