Will there be something new this weekend?

A lot of people seem to be tinkering with Darklight Phoenix. Honestly, we can't tell, there's no data on it yet.

What we know: decks outside the established meta won just 46% of their matches at last weekend's RCs.

[MTGMetaForecast @MTGMetaForecast]

Why Esper Blink is our great choice: 51.5% expected win rate at ~7.5% of the metagame.

It beats Izzet Prowess (54%), Goryo's (61%) and GW Druid (65%). Weak spot: Broodscale (46%).

Last weekend: 56% match wins at the RCs and a Top 4 in Japan.

[MTGMetaForecast @MTGMetaForecast]

Is Azorius Control shaking up Modern?

Our model likes it: 51.4% expected win rate, strong vs Esper Blink (65%) and Ruby Storm (71%).

The big question: is it actually good vs Broodscale? Our data says no (46%), but the Ottawa winner beat it twice, including the final.

[MTGMetaForecast @MTGMetaForecast]

If you can't beat it, join it!

Broodscale: 52.8% expected win rate, the best of the big decks. No real enemy in sight: its worst matchup, GW Druid (40% for Broodscale), is only ~4% of the metagame and won just 46% of its matches last weekend.

[MTGMetaForecast @MTGMetaForecast]

Is Izzet Prowess a good choice this weekend?

It took 3 of 8 Top 8 slots at the RC in Japan. Our model disagrees: less than one Prowess deck expected in this Top 8.

Why: it's behind vs all the big decks: Broodscale 48%, Esper Blink 46%, Goryo's 45%, Izzet Affinity 41%.

[MTGMetaForecast @MTGMetaForecast]

Modern RCs this weekend: our model sees no big shake-up.

🎯 Deck to beat: Broodscale (52.8% expected win rate)
✅ Great choice: Esper Blink (51.5%)
🏆 Recent winner: Azorius Control (51.4%)
🧊 Not as hot as it seems: Izzet Prowess (48.8%)
