Dietary patterns may influence lung function growth beyond the possible effects of individual foods & nutrients. In our recent paper (https://t.co/RMro9Usfqt), we have shown that children with a health-conscious diet at mid-childhood had higher lung function in adolescence (1/3)

whereas those with a diet high in processed foods had lower lung function. This could not be explained by vitamins, antioxidants, or fibres, suggesting the importance of a ‘whole diet’ approach. These associations partly depended on genetic makeup; for example (2/3)
