“After Roe v. Wade was overturned, we had to turn to state courts and state constitutions as the critical backstop to protecting access to abortion,” said Brigitte Amiri, deputy director at the ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project.

Our CEO @ZakiyaEra sat down with @DrNancyOReilly to talk about the need for everyone's protection under the Constitution in the form of the ERA and the importance of voting for candidates who prioritize equality for all.

ICYMI: @garnethenderson’s final report on Idaho’s reproductive health crisis highlights the people choosing to stay in the state and fight back against the extremism, despite the risks https://t.co/jsuju4iY7O
1. Incredible news!
A federal judge has blocked Idaho's gender affirming care ban, ruling it as likely unconstitutional.
Crucially, he rules that "A parent's right to seek medical care" is "deeply rooted in this nation's history and traditions."

“The filing said the legislature’s “attempt via enactment of SB 458 to write ‘gender’ out of the Montana Code Annotated” is “an exercise of “a power properly belonging” to the judicial branch,” making it unconstitutional.” https://t.co/NB5bbCWAcj
More info on the additional lawsuit challenging SB 458, the anti-LGBTQ2S+ law that falsely claims that sex is binary. Physicians took time to educate legislators about how and why this law was inaccurate, but they passed it anyway. https://t.co/NQsCwpjXk0
"Gianforte this year signed legislation to ban drag events in public spaces and gender-affirming care for trans youth. None have escaped legal challenges so far." #mtleg
“With its unscientific definitions, SB 458 leaves persons trained in science baffled as to how to comply with both it and their medical & other scientific training.” ACLU of MT sues, alleges bill is unconstitutional. @NicoleGirten: https://t.co/TRq73hB7gG #mtnews#mtpol#mtleg
FILED: We are challenging a new state law claiming that all Montanans can & must be classified by “exactly two sexes, male & female." SB 458 is unconstitutional & we will fight all attempts to erase 2S-LGBTQIA+ Montanans from dozens of sections of the Montana Code.

2023's #mtleg saw far too many attacks on sexual and reproductive health care, but there were still a few bright spots! One of those was Rep. Buckley's HB 302 granting the right to bring home a year’s supply of prescription birth control with just one trip to the pharmacy.
This might seem like no big deal to some, but for the many Montanans trying to balance family/work/school/unreliable cars/icy roads/etc., this new law is going to be a real game changer. (Besides, who doesn’t want to waste 11 fewer lunch breaks standing in line at the pharmacy?)
