Today is an important reminder to be listening deeply and actively engaging with reconciliation and what our roles in reconciliation look like. It is essential to know why we are coming together today, here is some information to start your (un)learning journey.
The #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation honours the survivors of residential schools, their families and communities and mourns the lives of those who did not come home from residential schools. This #OrangeShirtDay2022 we recognize that wearing orange is only a first step.
Non-Indigenous people: please remember that September 30th isn’t a day of celebration or joy for us. For many of us, it’s a day that reminds us of loss and is a day of mourning and remembrance. Please remember this when smiling with your friends for a pic in your orange shirts.
“Sound can heal. Sound can kill. Sound can be a spear or a needle."
