Alex Speier is saying the Red Sox have traded for OF Jahmai Jones, who was DFA’d by the Tigers.

He has always hit well vs the Red Sox, especially at Fenway in his career.

Red Sox take Kaleb LaFavor in the 10th round out of IA. Another massive pitcher (6’7 at 18) with a ton of extension. Sits lower 90s currently with run & carry, and a slider, cutter, and changeup.

Draws parallels to Jacob Misiorowski, but is more polished at this point.

Red Sox take Martin Shelar in the 9th round.

6’2, 205 @ 18 years old. Pipeline ranked at 175, but Baseball America raised him to 49. Good value at pick 274.

Good power upside & athletic. Had longest HR at Draft Combine (470 ft). Some scouts worry about swing consistency.

2 of the 3 bats the Red Sox have drafted so far share two traits: good hit tools & athleticism.

Over the years, they favor hit > power with the opportunity to develop power. When taking good athletes, there’s a better chance of that.

Jake Schaffner- tons of contact, good plate discipline, & good athlete. Not much power. Ellsbury vibes kind of.

The Red Sox lean more towards good hit tools & try to tap into more power. Could be a great fit.

Also most likely an underslot pick to save $.
