The Centauric Conglomerate
From my Book
The Centauric Conglomerate is a peculiar political entity, as at least on a technical level, it does not exist. Located in the northern plains, the horse people are comprised of large roaming herds who are self governed. They have no cities or industry save for the city of Mottenheim, which serves as a gathering point for all the herds. Mottenheim is where trade, and disputes can be settled, or if a war is declared the tribes gather here and marshal their forces together. The Conglomerate title was mistakenly assigned to them by Aegian diplomats who misunderstood the nature of the people they were meeting.
In many ways this nation is flimsy at best with no unified political structure or economy to speak of. All the needs of each herd are foraged from the land as they choose an existence of relatively peaceful existence. However, when provoked, the herds unify under one banner and crush their enemies through sheer numbers, and their already impressive individual mass. For Centaurs are massive beasts. They possess the body of an over-muscular horse with a human torso sprouting from the front that is equally as massive as their lower half. Their hide is tough, even able to shrug off some firelock shot in some instances, and their dense bones make them incredibly durable.
This nomadic lifestyle and primitive way of war, though, has come at a cost. Powerful they may be, but their extreme decentralization means they often are taken advantage of by their neighbors, or in some cases suffer the wrath of invading armies more organized and technologically advanced as they.
As such, the future of the Conglomerate is vague, but there is one certainty. The horse people will never bow easily, even in the face of their potential annihilation.
