In January, 15 friends were going to Malaysia for a crypto conference, all of them processed their visas themselves except one person who used wander with Abdul and that was the only person who made it to Malaysia.

2 months ago, around 5 friends were going to meet their dev team from around the world in Thailand, the only person who made it there was the person we processed the visa for, the others tried it themselves and I guess you know the answer already.

Why am I saying this? Because there are different approaches to different country visas and I will list them for you:

1. Visas need expertise and experience, which you as a layman do not have, of course. How you apply some visas, the documents you submit and what you include in your application matters a lot.
2. Some visas use contact, that is you need an insider in the embassy that can approve the visa for you, else you are at a higher risk of getting denied, the agents have these contacts.
3. Some visas need sponsors, that is you can’t get into some countries without sponsorship from inside that country, countries like Singapore, Indonesia, etc.
4. You can’t apply some visas without agents, yes I said that; you can’t apply to places like Qatar, UAE without agencies, it was made mandatory by these countries themselves.
5. As a Nigerian, you hold one of the top 20 weakest passports in the world, you have a higher probability of getting rejected than being approved anywhere, even in your fellow African countries, traveling as a Nigerian in reality is much more harder than what we see and hear on the net. You need all the leverages you can get for your visa application.

Having made these points, it is crucial to indicate that there is the convenience factor, planning a trip is a demanding task to embark on, a lot of people don’t want to go through that, and you really can’t outplan someone who has already been in a country or has planned multiple trips to the country before.

In conclusion, am I saying you can’t plan your trips yourself? No, you can, you are always welcome to try, but it is ENTIRELY WRONG to say agents don’t do anything because in the end they still have higher success rates than individual approvals.
