@nblxba@Fame_0007 But regardless, I think a good parallel was when people were disgusted that heath Ledger, famous for playing a gay cowboy, was cast in such an iconic role as the Joker. Maybe watching the movie, you get proved right, maybe you get proved wrong.
@nblxba@Fame_0007 But generally, I think the 'don't judge a book by its cover' is a better way of approaching things. Yes, you may view it as an affront to your culture, but again, making such emotionally charged snap judgements on content you have yet to consume makes you sound prejudiced
@nblxba@Fame_0007 Okay, fine. Don't watch the movie. It's not Nolan's duty to faithfully recreate a piece of fiction. Any director, not just Nolan, has creative freedom over their interpretation of a source material, particularly when it comes to fiction
@nblxba@Fame_0007 I do not think that you are wrong to feel this way, but the narrative that people are pushing on others saying that 'YOU shouldn't watch this film' because I presume it is shit based on my presumptions about casting and a trailer is a slightly undercooked perspective
@AllenV3nz@alastair_ak47@Telegraph Also, in regards to your racist and transphobic comments - hate will consume you soon if you let it. I just hope that love and acceptance finds you sooner
@alastair_ak47@Telegraph Remember when your boomer parents said Heath Ledger couldn't perform the role of the Joker because he was only known for rom coms and playing a gay cowboy
@nblxba@Fame_0007 It's a bit like someone saying "Ah you shouldn't buy GTA 6 because XYZ". I don't really care if people buy it, but saying 'you should not buy it' without having any meaningful insight into the contents (other than surface level impressions) is a bit short -sighted
@nblxba@Fame_0007 I think it's more some people are just actively saying "DO NOT GO WATCH IT because XYZ". I don't think me and the OP are trying to force people to watch it - I'm just annoyed at how people are trying to discourage people from watching it WITHOUT actually knowing what it's like
@theMaximumCine@MelissaJeanSays@RMBee I completely agree with Melissa. How do we know that the cyclops did not exist? How can we tell? It could be real - and to cast a 60 ft shadow puppet, instead of a giraffe is an offensive attack on Western culture
@flschrmjr@HistoryBoomer Remember when your forefathers were dragging Heath Ledger's casting as the Joker because all he was famous for was being a gay cowboy
@TheoChron I feel like it epitomises the right wing boomer conservative lens - "On the surface, 'x' does not align with my ideologies. I will therefore suspend any further meaningful investigation into the matter, and die on this hill that my initial instinct is true."
@TheoChron The fact that people can become so disgusted about casting and a trailer, claiming that is has ruined their interpretation of a story WITHOUT witnessing it for themselves says a lot
