Lisandro Martinez’s view that Michael Carrick has been sold short and the squad has not been equipped with the depth to fight on multiple fronts is shared by several senior players - and football staff. It has been discussed in the dressing room with the club aware of frustrations around recruitment.
There was a fear ahead of the campaign that the squad would not be strengthened properly - the lack of cover at left-back and striker were major concerns, which is evidenced in how much the need for reinforcements was stressed during pre-season interviews.
Told the driving reason behind Martinez’s airing these grievances publicly is fury that Carrick is likely going to lose his job despite not being given the tools to have a fair crack, and players are sick of reset after reset, without questions asked of the people in charge and what direction they’re taking the club in.
Carrick and the team have faced criticism, accepted it, and owned up to performances being nowhere near good enough.
Where is the accountability from the people who keep leading the club to one doom spiral after another?
Surely not, how did they possibly get home ...don't tell me there was a perfectly safe and alternative route to get home that didn't entail antagonising local residents ...I'm shocked, shocked
I don't think many actually realise how big a talent JJ is. We're not talking Garnacho, Rashford etc. We're talking Yamal, Mbappe potential. If we aren't showing a pathway to development and the first team then you will 100% lose these talents to clubs who will. It's that simple

'Over the 10 years between 2016 and 2025, City generated £343m more in broadcast revenue and prize money from European football than the derby rivals they will face at Old Trafford on Sunday.
'That is the equivalent of three Elliot Andersons, more or less.'
@TelegraphDucker explains why Man United must become Champions League regulars if they are to realise their ambitious goals ⬇️

🔴⭐️ JJ Gabriel scored an hat-trick for Man United on his Youth League debut.
JJ also becomes the youngest ever to score three goals for United in the competition; at 15 years, 339 days old.
The reason why United have been stuck in a never-ending cycle is because squad players have been starters for far too long.
Look at Maguire, Shaw, Dalot, Rashford… these players have 2-3 good games, then 5 bad or average ones. If they were treated as squad players with limited league minutes and more opportunities in domestic cups, they could actually be very useful.
Instead, all of them are still regulars in 2026 and that’s basically the source of the inconsistency. Think about why it’s been the same story under literally every manager…
