“Once you have truly realized the station of being pleased with the divine decree in what is beloved and what is disliked alike, and the veils are lifted from your soul, and the obstacles that prevent it from attaining lofty stations and lordly knowledges are removed, and the doors of guidance are opened for you, then hasten to enter with resolve, earnestness, and firmness, so that you may obtain from its treasuries that by which you will live in bliss and happiness.
Beware of delay and procrastination, for death may suddenly descend upon you, and the chance may be lost; then you will be deprived of good and left remorseful when remorse no longer avails.”
He then names the greatest obstruction:
“If among the strongest obstacles to reaching these stations and knowledges is your soul that commands to evil, when you leave it roaming freely in the pastures of desire, grazing in the abode of pleasures, and yielding to it in the destructive things it beautifies, then be utterly careful to rein in its wild force, disobey its command, oppose its desire, beware of it, and struggle against it.

Mamdani just spent several minutes detailing Netanyahu’s alleged war crimes before saying he has no authority to arrest him and leaves the matter to the federal government.
Fine. Then use every power the mayor does have.
Don’t roll out the red carpet for a wanted war criminal. Don’t use the NYPD to insulate him from public outrage. Don’t suppress the New Yorkers who take to the streets demanding accountability.
If Netanyahu is truly not welcome in New York City, that principle should be reflected in how the city treats his visit, not just in rhetoric.
