@ACTBrigitte 🚨UKFO advice on travel to the US:
“Terrorists are very likely to try and carry out attacks in the US.
Terrorism attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by tourists”
Same, same.
@Melchirasha@k_neabs No one except you thinks finding something pretty means it’s astounding. Talk about hyperbole.
And are you suggesting that nothing cultivated can be pretty? If so, I’m sorry.
@matthew_elliott In 2016, UK GDP per capita was in the middle of the US states ranking. Now it’s bottom.
Can’t think what happened since 2016 that might have had a material adverse effect on UK GBP.
But at least this Brexit thing is an opportunity, eh?
@suespensley You’re hoping that reform will make a difference to your everyday life.
They won’t.
They will renege on half their promises because they have not produced a costed manifesto and won’t be able to afford them.
@EldrunEspada@MBGA_Dave1966@BowesChay American, actually.
I agree. I have often thought that the interests of the Russian people include 200k killed and 3x as many injured in a war with a neighbour; repressed civil liberties; increased consumer prices; a brain drain of talent etc…
All the good stuff.
@EldrunEspada@MBGA_Dave1966@BowesChay Absolutely! Nothing says “free and fair public opinion” like consistently sky-high approval ratings in a system where dissent tends to quietly disappear.
Dictatorships are where leaders lose elections, get publicly criticized, and have to step down when they’re unpopular.
@LayahHeilpern Loads of talent remains. Most of the smartest people remain. They don’t give up at the first sign of difficulty.
The grifters, influencers, crypto scammers… they all leave. But they are not entrepreneurs.
@samuel_leeds The UK doesn’t punish it. You’re not put in prison in the UK for being a flashy twat, more’s the pity.
But culture with respect to showing off wealth in the UK tends to be a little more… refined. Unless you’re in Essex.
