Today, during a Detroit City Council committee meeting, a BSEED official provided updates on Munoz Realty, a Detroit landlord who has come under scrutiny by some city council members, tenants and housing advocates. 1/2

- BSEED ID'ed 495 properties owned/managed by Munoz Realty. Of those properties, the dept. issued about 244 certificate of compliance (i.e. up to code).
- The landlord is working to bring 48 properties into compliance.
- BSEED issued 162 tickets amounting to over $55,000. 2/2

"We must not be driven by fear to bad decisions. ShotSpotter has simply not proven to be effective."

"ShotSpotter has not worked for (other major cities) and individuals have been wrongfully incarcerated. This body has settled too many of those cases with millions of dollars. Frankly, ShotSpotter cannot withstand a serious cost-benefit analysis," Waters said.

“It is not enough to just wear pink outfits that too many Detroiters cannot afford as they suffer silently, dying disproportionately from breast cancer " said Waters who is a breast cancer survivor.

The Resolution requests that City employees wear pink the first Tuesday of October designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
