Lots of communication is writing, but all writing is communication. The entire idea of writing is to record info. The person being communicated to could be across the globe or your future self, but the written text will still always be there to communicate something #writ318mu
Creativity is a must-have skill for anyone creating content (of any kind). Creativity is making something novel -- it's being able to take pieces and ideas from here and there, reimagining them, and using that idea to make something entirely new or different. #writ318mu
Learning can be done both actively and passively, but choosing to be actively involved in any learning process is much more effective. To me, learning is a process through which you can gain a deeper understanding of any topic #writ318mu
Critical thinking is more than just surface level thinking. It requires that you try to understand the "why"s and "how"s which give a more comprehensive understanding that can be transferred #writ318mu
In my eyes, content is anything that someone creates for their audience with them in mind. It does matter if it is a sentence or a mural, if it is made with intent and purpose, it is content #writ318mu
I think of (good) collaboration as being people coming together in a way where their skills build off of each other, resulting in a better and stronger end product #writ318mu
My favorite tip from my #H2W guide is also one of the simplest ones: make sure your YouTube thumbnail has a small snippet of text in it! And if you can, make it a question.
Even better? Add an arrow! #writ318mu
Do you think this layout is easy to understand? I think it's working well, but I still need to expand upon the impact/reasoning behind each tip #writ318mu
I've got a few ideas for how I want my H2W guide to look, but I think I'm going to go with styling it after YouTube existing UI/UX standards #writ318mu
Before this course, I never gave the idea of content strategy much thought behind surface level aspects. As a design student, learning how to actually plan and develop it has shown me how I can be a better artist and creator #writ318mu
Being able to revise your work quickly while incorporating meaningful changes is a valuable skill. The format of this class has helped to push me out of my comfort zone and shown me how I can do that more effectively #writ318mu
I'm mocking up a good handful of fake video thumbnails and titles for my H2W guide. As a design student this is absolutely my favorite part so far! #writ318mu
My H2W guide with be simple and clean. In it I'll have clear examples of Do's and Do Not's for each main point/tip, along with a very brief explanation of why that part matters #writ318mu
For my final revision, I'm focusing on expanding the analysis of my results and incorporating more visual examples to demonstrate what I'm discussing #writ318mu
@iamsethlynn Your data collection looks great! For mine, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to focus on broader categories of content or specific details within them, but in the end I decided to go with the latter. #writ318mu
@iamsethlynn I think the examples portion is really important. You can explain something perfectly, but actually seeing what it looks like is invaluable to understanding goals #writ318mu
@Floody_be_good Mine looks very similar to this. I have 3 sheets where I tracked ~5 factors across 20 videos per channel. Looking at it gets confusing quickly, so I absolutely need graphs to help show what it all means #writ318mu
@lornacornely1 There's a lot of elements of YouTube that can show how well the creator's strategy is working. Views indicate what catches attention the most, but likes/dislikes shows what people actually like #writ318mu
