It is regrettable to see the Summer Suru Fest 2026 being organised in Kargil without due regard for its cultural and religious sensitivities. Tourism is important, but it must respect local sentiments, traditions and values. Such events should be reconsidered in the future.
🌙✨ Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ Mubarak!
May the blessed occasion of the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ fill our hearts with peace, compassion, love and guidance.
Let us follow his teachings of mercy, justice and humanity. 🤍

Ladakh needs safer roads, not just better roads.
Regular maintenance, proper road safety measures, drainage and timely repairs are essential—especially on routes connecting remote villages.
Safe roads mean safer lives and better connectivity for everyone.

Healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege.
Ladakh needs better hospitals, specialist doctors, medicines & emergency services—especially in remote areas.
Our people deserve quality healthcare closer to home.

📢 Ladakh’s youth need a recruitment calendar, not uncertainty.
Can the Administration publish a fixed annual calendar for vacancies, exams, results & appointments?
Our youth deserve timely recruitment and transparency.

I don’t think every tourist destination needs 5-star hotels. We travel to a place to experience its uniqueness, culture, nature, food & way of life.
Every destination has its own charm & that’s what should be preserved & celebrated, rather than making every place look the same. What you think ?
Visited the cloudburst-affected areas of Karkit Badgam, Karkitchoo and Hardass along with Hon’ble MP Ladakh Shri Mohmad Haneefa Jan to assess the damages and hear the concerns of affected families.
I sincerely thank Hon’ble MP for assuring his support and assistance from his MP fund for the affected areas. I also assure that my CCDA fund will be utilised to support necessary restoration and relief works in the affected areas.
I urge the UT Administration Ladakh to provide a special relief package for the extensive damages to agricultural land, orchards, houses and essential infrastructure, along with permanent protective measures for these vulnerable areas.
Our priority remains timely relief, restoration and long-term solutions for the affected people.

Had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri C. R. Patil Ji, and submitted a memorandum highlighting the extensive damage caused to irrigation infrastructure and agricultural fields by the recent cloudbursts and flash floods in Kargil.
I urged the Hon’ble Minister for urgent financial support for temporary restoration, permanent reconstruction of irrigation canals/khuls, and rehabilitation of damaged agricultural land, so that irrigation facilities can be restored and our affected farmers can resume agricultural activities at the earliest.
The protection of our farmers and restoration of their livelihoods remain my foremost priority.

Met with Hon’ble Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji and submitted a memorandum seeking focused support for Kargil’s horticulture sector. I requested the establishment of a Regional Research Station for Apricot at Kargil, expeditious GI certification for Kargil Dried Apricot (Phating), Kargil Halman Apricot, Karkitchoo Apple and Kargil Apricot Oil, and declaration of Karkitchoo, Hardass, Chanigound and Shilikchay villages as a Border Apricot Zone. These measures will strengthen research, production, branding, market access and farmers’ livelihoods while promoting Kargil’s unique horticultural products at national and international markets.

As millions across the world commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (A.S.), I extend my heartfelt salutations to all the mourners participating in the solemn procession in Kargil. The everlasting message of Karbala—truth, justice, sacrifice, and steadfastness in the face of oppression—continues to illuminate the path of humanity.
May Almighty Allah, through the blessings of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of Karbala, protect the people of Kargil from all hardships and natural calamities. In the aftermath of the recent flash floods, I pray for the safety, resilience, and well-being of every family, and for peace, unity, and prosperity across our district.@drajaffer@airnewskargil@LAHDC_Kgl@JUIAK_Ladakh@DailyIranNews
