Walked around Farlington today for first time in months - there seems to be dead grass near all the water inlets. Is this a result of the 2 day sewage spill into Langstone Harbour last month? @BirdAwareSolent@HOSbirding@hantsbirdnews
We put up a @Natures_Voice feeder for small birds - just as @MeganMcCubbin highlighted in @BBCWinterwatch Pigeons are smart and determined ... stay tuned for the Squirrel turning up!
3 hours on Monday @Farlington with nothing to show. But the word on @hantsbirdnews was the #EOW likes the sun. Today was glorious - but I only had 30 mins to visit ... luckily it was out for 10 of them! The highs and lows of another @BirdWatchingMag 200 Bird Year.
@LeeFuller90 I sense your bar for ‘good’ is higher than mine but I was delighted to find it on my own and a ‘good enough for me’ record shot. 1700 today.
My @BirdWatchingMag#My200BirdYear has been slow but heard about Farlington Wryneck so detoured on way home. Found it myself (feel like a real birder now) then spotted my first Osprey and regretted not going home for scope! @hantsbirdnews
Delighted to see the @titchfieldhaven Squacco Heron (honestly it’s in the reeds!) and Tree Creeper. Met a man who’s seen all UK resident birds, butterflies, dragonflies and orchids. Didn’t declare I’m still in double digits for @BirdWatchingMag my200bird year! 😂
Brilliant week in Malta - holiday rather than birding but saw Black Redstarts everywhere along side White Wagtail and Spanish Sparrows but highlight was a Sardinian Warbler - the eyes really freaked me out! (not my pic) #MY200birdyear@BirdWatchingMag
@jarpartridge - I hear you’re ‘the gull Lord’ - I saw these gulls last year - can you help ID please? I’m only starting so unsure. They looked different but would be good to know.
On reviewing my photos and field guides I think these 2 white winged gulls have different bills, head shape and eye placement so (until re-educated otherwise) I'm calling in @BirdWatchingMag#my200birdyear
