🔰To celebrate the #NationalSportsDay2026, the nation is set to witness a large-scale youth engagement initiative, “Khelo India Dialogue – Khel Ki Baat, Pradhan Mantri Modi Ke Saath”, on 27 August 2026

🔰The initiative will bring together young people, athletes and educational institutions at more than 1,500 locations across the country

🔰The nationwide initiative will create a direct platform for young budding athletes to share their ideas, suggestions and innovative thoughts on the future of India’s sports and youth ecosystem

🔰IITs, IIMs, NITs, AIIMS, leading medical colleges and universities will be among the educational institutions participating in the programme

A nation's balanced growth is realized when national vision directly meets grassroots execution. Under the 'Poorvottar Sampark Setu' initiative of MDoNER, I undertook a comprehensive district review visit to William Nagar in the East Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the North Eastern Region occupies a central place in our development blueprint, ensuring closer institutional coordination and deeper engagement to address regional priorities effectively on the ground.

During this visit, where I was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Shri R. P. Marak, IAS, Superintendent of Police Shri Swapnil Pawar, IPS, and senior district officials, our primary focus was evaluating core livelihood and infrastructure projects that anchor rural self-reliance. I closely reviewed ongoing initiatives in fisheries and animal husbandry to strengthen local capacities, boost productivity, and secure sustainable livelihood generation, while also engaging with facilities showcasing indigenous handicrafts to explore stronger market linkages for our traditional artisans and Self-Help Groups. Alongside these vital economic sectors, we assessed the regional sports ecosystem; inspecting the Artificial Football Turf at RGHSS Playground and reviewing the construction progress of the 'Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Hall' at Tambo A’ding to ensure our youth receive top-tier sporting infrastructure.

Governance cannot be run from distant offices; it must be verified and felt on the ground. The Government remains firmly committed to delivering inclusive development that unlocks meaningful economic and athletic opportunities for the vibrant youth and local communities of the North East.

As someone with a deep association with sports and a distinguished background in Taekwondo, the Hon’ble Chief Minister brings a unique athlete’s perspective to governance and sports development. Our discussion focused on strengthening grassroots talent identification, expanding Khelo India initiatives, enhancing SAI-supported training ecosystems, athlete welfare, sports infrastructure, and high-performance pathways for young athletes across Manipur.
