🐼 He was talking to my staff who used to work with him before.

🎥 Renowned HongKong director, Derek Yee, mentioned #WangYibo in the Golden Goblet Film Forum at the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival. He mentioned that script is very important for young directors, but casting Wang Yibo will bring in investment immediately to start the project even without a script.
“When I come across a script that’s well-written but doesn’t really have a market, I’ll tell the writer straight up that I don’t think it has enough commercial potential. On the other hand, I’ve also seen scripts that aren’t well-written, but have a really great plot twist or a standout moment. In those cases, I’ll tell them, ‘Your script isn’t good enough right now, but if you keep working on it, it can definitely become a great script. It all depends on how much effort you’re willing to put into it.’
So I think it’s still hard for a new director to convince a big-name actor. With some actors, if you can land them, it doesn’t matter if the script isn’t perfect—that’s definitely true. For example, if you (Director Wang Dejian, director of the opening film of this year’s film festival, “The Fourth Curtain”) can get Wang Yibo for your next project, you basically don’t even need to write a script; you can start shooting right away. That’s a very real issue.”
*Derek Yee previously worked with Wang Yibo for My Strange Friend. They have met again at the 2023 Huabiao Awards.
*Previously, Director Yao Xiaofeng of #WarOfFaith has also mentioned that investment started pouring in for War of Faith after Wang Yibo signed the project. This is also one of the reason why it was never on iQIYI’s press conference and no investment period has been declared.
📰 VOGUE China wrote an article for #WangYibo and Pechoin’s latest ad for their 95th anniversary. The article also includes Wang Yibo’s growth path.
“In the torrent of change in the entertainment industry, Wang Yibo’s star track is completely different. At the age of 13, he went to South Korea for training alone. At the age of 17, he made his debut with a full A score. At the age of 20, he stood in the spotlight. Yet at the height of the applause, he turned away and immersed himself in film sets, racing tracks, and the wilderness. When he reappeared, he had already brought with him a new work or a new achievement. Wang Yibo’s journey of growth reads more like a narrative of inner reflection, walking hand in hand with time. Meanwhile, Pechoin, having weathered 95 years of ups and downs, has accompanied countless Asian women in embracing the splendor of their youth. Their “mutual pursuit” points to the same answer: eschewing superficiality, staying true to one’s heart, and moving forward toward renewal with the passage of time.
Chapter 1: The Passage of Time Wang Yibo’s Inward Growth
Wang Yibo once said, “When you’re doing something you love, even the biggest difficulties may not seem a difficulty.” Along the way, he has never pursued outward clamor, but has always been a well-rounded artist who cultivates inner peace. Silent and focused, he lets his work speak for itself and leaves the answers to time.
On stage, the body language speaks volumes. Day after day of practice, his dedication to dance, makes every movement precise, crisp, and effortlessly controlled. When acting, he chooses to immerse himself, meticulously honing his skills and thoroughly preparing for each role. His performance in “Gank Your Heart” won the Golden Eagle Award; his acting alongside Tony Leung in “Hidden Blade” earned him a Golden Rooster Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor; and his repeated refinement of challenging scenes in “One and Only” garnered him two nominations: the Golden Rooster Award for Best Actor and the Huabiao Award for Outstanding Actor.
Outside of the camera, from being a motorcycle racer who won second place in the mixed group of the Asian Road Racing Championship; to being a racer who broke his personal record on the China GT circuit and won the GT3 AM group championship, and set his personal fastest lap twice in a single day at the Shanghai 8 Hours Endurance Race; and launching the outdoor exploration documentary program “Exploring The Unknown”, challenging himself with high-intensity outdoor activities such as rock climbing, diving, and desert off-roading.
Moreover, from everyday outfits to the international stage, Wang Yibo’s unique style has repeatedly become a topic of discussion. He wears both Eastern and Western styles. Traditional elements and modern tailoring are deconstructed and recombined on him, transforming into a unique expression of his own.
Looking back on his journey, this innate Eastern spirit is no accident. He is not in a hurry to express himself, yet he always persists; he doesn’t compete with others, but only strives against himself. He gives his all to what he believes in, achieving the ultimate. This is perhaps the most moving part of Eastern aesthetics—unassuming, unhurried, simply growing silently inward. Such growth takes time, and time will always bring like-minded people together.
Chapter 2: Time in Sync: Wang Yibo and Pechoin
Every step Wang Yibo takes is traceable, solid, and powerful. This coincides with the underlying logic of Pechoin, which has remained vibrant for 95 years. One grows inward, the other carries on the legacy. Time is their shared answer. Their two-way journey is undoubtedly a testament to their steadfast commitment over time, a shared spirit that has accumulated strength.

🎥 Do you know how the general public views #WangYibo? He is actually looked up to by a lot of the young generation, not only because of his hobbies and skills, but also because of his attitude and mindset.
A vlog from a musical actor is going viral because he mentioned that he wants to be Wang Yibo.
“What I think is most impressive is that he hasn’t gotten completely caught up in the world of fame and fortune—he hasn’t fallen into the trap of chasing after these empty things. I really admire him for that. I think he keeps his personal life and celebrity life strictly separate. Many people get lost in the pursuit of money, fame, and status and can’t break free, but he’s managed to strike a great balance.”
🎥 #WangYibo was prompted at the recent “Guess the Celebrity” game in the variety show Wonderland with Rocco Liu (VOGUE China’s Editor-in-Chief)
