8 years ago today, BTS’ third studio album 'love yourself: tear' officially debuted at no. 1 on the us billboard 200 chart. 📈
this milestone marked the first predominantly foreign-language album to top the us albums chart in over 12 years and the first-ever k-pop album to achieve the feat. 👏
Pause. Pause and listen to Ryan explain how Body to Body was born. I was grinning the whole time.
You can clearly see there’s a reason why once artists work with BTS, their whole perception about who they are changes. Just from watching this full interview, you can tell the kind of drive and mindset that comes from Ryan Tedder as an artist, as a producer, aligns very closely with who BTS are as artists and musicians and how they’ve always approached their work.
There’s no ambiguity in their goals. And it’s not about making hits. But it’s about music that speaks to them. Music that then, also speaks to others. It’s enthralling to listen to.
And it’s that misconception people have that skews first impressions. Until they meet BTS, dive deeper into their work, and realise oh shit. These guys are the real deal. They care about their music. About their fans. They care about what they say. They care about every single beat and lyric and flow. Not just putting a bunch of samples and words together.
Ryan talks about that throughout this interview and it made me see why he was a part of Arirang the way he was.
Incredible.
