Thanks a million to everyone at the @UoNSoE for their support during my doctoral journey.
A very special thanks goes to my supervisors Professors Monica McLean and Andy Townsend for providing me with the guidance and counsel I needed to succeed.
Can you imagine what these waters are, and where this is? This is Mogadishu, on the famous 21 October Road, directly across from the Enza Home building. What you are seeing is sewage water that has reportedly been dumped at this location over the past several days.
It is heartbreaking and deeply disturbing to see such a situation in the heart of our beloved capital. Mogadishu deserves clean streets, a healthy environment, and dignified living conditions for its people. This should concern us all.
💥🇧🇷 JUST IN: President Lula just said what every Global South nation should be saying: critical minerals are ours. If you want them, come set up here. Produce here. Generate development here. We are no longer colonized countries. We will not give up our sovereignty.
The West has spent centuries extracting Africa's minerals, Latin America's lithium, Asia's rare earths. Taking. Exploiting. Leaving nothing but poverty and pollution. Now the world needs these resources for the green transition, and they think the old model still works.
No. Not anymore.
The era of extraction without development is over. The era of sovereignty without compromise has begun. Lula said it. The people feel it. And the world better listen.
For centuries, to justify colonialism, western states promoted the lie that they bequeath the rule of law on lawless, uncivilised nations. Now the instrumentality of international law is openly admitted. The west admits its own lawless barbarism. 1/2 https://t.co/qU2STpty5G
This is how the Western Media reports. See no evil hear no evil. In two years Israel killed more than 120,000 Palestinians and counting every single day. 80 years of Zionist slaughtering of Palestinians. Now Israel and USA on the next mission of killing more innocent people in Iran and destroying great countries in the name of nuclear.
1. Iraq – 2003 U.S.-led invasion toppled Saddam Hussein; years of insurgency and instability followed.
2. Libya – 2011 NATO intervention (backed by the U.S.) led to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi and prolonged civil war.
3. Syria – U.S. involvement through airstrikes, support to opposition groups, and anti-ISIS operations during the civil war.
4. Yemen – U.S. supported the Saudi-led coalition with intelligence, logistics, and arms during the civil war.
5. Somalia – U.S. military operations against Al-Shabaab, including airstrikes and special forces missions.
Before you die, make sure to tell your children and future generations that you witnessed that era when an 86 years old man stood alone to defend his country while all the so called islamic countries were drowning in luxury and silence while others played a bigger role in assisting in the murder by allowing their countries to be used as military bases.
No more bloodshed. No more broken futures. Peace is strength. Unity is power. Let the war end — let hope begin. Free Iran!
No one — and I mean not a single intelligent soul — should take @rigathi seriously when he purports to now be the champion of the Somali hoi poloi. He should spare the country his fake crocodile tears. Since when did he discover that Somalis are full citizens of Kenya with “shares” in the company he calls Kenya Inc.? Look, Wamunyoro is only using the historical plight of Somalis to beat up on their leaders because they support President @WilliamsRuto. You would never hear a peep from him were they his minions. Intelligent people shouldn’t allow themselves to be manipulated by this cynical, hypocritical, hateful dude. The fox has never guarded, or protected, the chicken coop. Besides, Gachagua shouldn’t steal the agency of Somalis. They know the issues that bedevil them, and have ample brains and voices to articulate questions of mal-governance and corruption. Let’s treat the man from Mathira with the contempt that he rightly deserves. Akwende huko! After all, according to him, only people from the Mountain matter @ahmednasirlaw@JunetMohamed@AbdikadirMohami@HonAdenDuale@HEAhmedJiir
GAZA. The so called peace plan is allowing Israel to "finish the job": 450 killed; 2,500 structures destroyed; lifesaving aid blocked.
The human rights movement will not allow those responsible to run away from justice. It is not matter of if. It's matter of when.
@ICC@CIJ_ICJ
What's happening in Gaza is now almost entirely absent from the top international headlines. But Israel is still killing Palestinians and their babies are freezing to death. We can't afford to stop talking about that.
Israel’s so-called recognition of Somaliland risks strengthening extremist groups such as ISIS and Al-Shabaab and undermining regional stability.

The Dubai administration's antagonism towards human advancement has escalated to the point that they now justify their refusal to fund their students' university education in the UK.
Why? They fear these students may become enlightened and seek freedom. Instead, they sought to keep them in the dark and blame a fabricated connection to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Having lived in the UK for over 30 years and spent more than 20 years engaged with various universities, I have yet to encounter a single affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood.
What a shame!
Here is my latest publication on the "Nexus between Peace Processes and Constitution-Making in Somalia." I would like to thank Catalina Uribe @catasur for editing the study and @FBAFolke for publishing it. I welcome any engagements, disagreements, and critiques. Here is the link:

Speech given by President of Culumbia at UN at General Assembly 24 Sept. 2025. He states that the USA under Trump is not any more the bedrock of democracy in the world and that the politics of white, racist elites (like Trump) are dragging humankind into the abyss. Good to hear his voice, worth to reflect on it. https://t.co/ZLPlOybQKu
Excited to present my research on *“Climate-Induced Migration in Somalia”* at the AMC in Nairobi!
Big thanks to @EAIPG, @UoNairobi, & @OSPE_Somalia for the opportunity to engage with experts, diplomats & policymakers on this critical issue.
@Anwaryare1000@afyare_elmi
@Abdisalamguled As much as I appreciate your analysis, I suspect your advice serves only one purpose - makes Somalia’s enemies (UAE and others) happy.
Gen. Odawaa is a Somali hero who did his best in his capacity and considering the context. and I can assure that he is here to stay in the long
The African Union belongs to Africa—not Ethiopia.
While Addis Ababa has hosted the AU, Ethiopia does not own it. The AU represents all 55 African nations, and its headquarters should reflect that. No single country should dominate Africa’s future.
Time for a neutral, stable, and accessible home. #MoveAU #AfricaUnite @_AfricanUnion
In 1968, the apartheid regime began demolishing District Six to make way for a whites-only suburb. More than 60,000 people were forcibly removed. Families were torn apart. An entire community and way of life was destroyed.

Elon Musk needs to be stopped.
After he fanned the flames of racial division in the UK last summer, I warned that he was one of the most dangerous men on the planet.
Armed with billions and driven by hatred, it is time we confront Musk's hateful rhetoric, not pander to it.
